On Wednesday Jan 31st, Craig Garcia had his first fundraiser event hosted by Jason & Vera Gibbons in Santa Fe Hills area of San Marcos. The turnout was huge as there was standing room only. After thanking his wife Giovanna, he began to describe how he and his wife were married very young and how his wife Giovanna went through the legal process of becoming a United States Citizen in 2005, 11 years after they were married. Craig spoke about how he and his wife Giovanna ambitiously started their computer company, going from starting out in their 1000 sq ft home to needing a business park in the Irvine Spectrum’s Technology Sector. Later selling their business and their home to move to North County San Diego.
Craig Garcia spoke about his time he spent in Irvine Ca and how he watched the city go from a rural agricultural community with two small colleges and 1 hospital into a thriving suburban city with plenty of housing, One Huge University and a small Junior College with lots of corporate buildings and jobs! He spoke of the good things that Irvine did while cautioned on some of the things they could have done better.
He laid out his vision for San Marcos and he stressed the urgency of building commercial buildings to keep jobs right here in San Marcos. Too many travelers are using San Marcos as a cut through to get to and from work and that doesn’t benefit the city at all. It only clogs our roads. More jobs in town would allow people to live and work right here in San Marcos, while generating new tax revenue for the city.
